It allows users to effortlessly "walk" through a space, understanding the relationship between rooms instantly. Until today, achieving this look required tedious, manual hotspot placement for every connection.

Not anymore. PanoCool’s new Street View Arrows Add-on automates the workflow while giving you unparalleled design control.
Here is how this game-changing feature transforms your tour creation process:

Why Street View Style?

Standard virtual tour navigation often relies on static icons (like "i" for info or generic arrows) placed somewhere in the scene. Street View arrows are different because they are spatial. They float on the floor plane, indicating direction and distance simultaneously.

The Benefits:

Instant Familiarity: Your visitors already know how to use it.

Increased Engagement: Fluid movement encourages users to explore deeper.

Massive Time Savings: You no longer need to manually link every single pair of panoramas with individual hotspots.

Step-by-Step: How to Use Street View Arrows in PanoCool

Let's walk through how easy it is to set this up.

1. Start Your Project

First, create a new project and upload your 360° panoramas. We are starting with a clean slate.

Create a new project and upload your panoramas

2. Map Your Space

The core concept is to place your panoramas on a virtual "floor."

If your images already contain GPS data, PanoCool can actually automate this entire placement step for you! The system will read the coordinates and arrange the panoramas automatically in relation to each other.

If your images don’t have GPS data (like in this example), you simply drag and drop your panorama "nodes" (dots representing your images) onto the blank canvas, positioning them correctly relative to one another. Once positioned, you simply draw the connection lines between them to define the walking paths.

Map your panoramas on a virtual floorplan

Pro Tip for Accuracy: Use the Direction Cone on each node to align the panorama’s orientation. One innovative technique that addresses these challenges is the use of tiles and multi-resolution technology. This method involves splitting large 360-degree photos into smaller, more manageable pieces called tiles, and creating multiple versions of these tiles at different resolutions.

Advantages of Tiles and Multi-Resolution for 360 Photos

360-degree photos are known for their immersive experience, but they often come with a significant drawback: large file sizes. These hefty files can lead to slow loading times, especially on devices with slower internet connections. This is where the tiles and multi-resolution approach shines:

Improved Loading Times: By breaking down the image into smaller tiles, viewers can start exploring the scene almost immediately. The system loads only the tiles that are currently in view, rather than waiting for the entire high-resolution image to download.

Adaptive Quality: The multi-resolution aspect allows the system to serve the most appropriate image quality based on the viewer's device and zoom level. This means mobile users with smaller screens receive lower-resolution tiles, while desktop users with large monitors get higher-quality images.

Bandwidth Efficiency: This method significantly reduces bandwidth usage, as only the necessary parts of the image at the required resolution are transmitted.

Enhanced Interactivity: The faster loading times and smoother navigation result in a more responsive and enjoyable user experience, encouraging viewers to explore the virtual space more thoroughly.

Reduced Risk of Image Theft: Since the full-resolution image is never loaded as a single file, it becomes more challenging for unauthorized users to download and misuse the high-quality version of the 360-degree photo.

Scalability: This approach is particularly beneficial for virtual tours with multiple high-resolution 360-degree images, as it allows for efficient loading and smooth transitions between different scenes.

PanoCool: Pioneering Tiles and Multi-Resolution in Virtual Tour Building

While the concept of tiles and multi-resolution is not new in the world of digital mapping and satellite imagery, its application to 360-degree photography and virtual tours is still relatively uncommon. PanoCool stands out as one of the few virtual tour builders that have successfully implemented this advanced feature.

PanoCool's implementation of tiles and multi-resolution technology offers several unique advantages:

Quick Processing: After uploading a 360-degree photo, PanoCool's system processes the image and generates the necessary tiles and resolution variants in just a few minutes, allowing creators to quickly preview and publish their virtual tours.

Seamless Integration: The tiling and multi-resolution features work behind the scenes, requiring no additional effort from the tour creator while significantly enhancing the end-user experience.

Storage Optimization: Although this method requires slightly more storage space than a single high-resolution image, PanoCool has optimized the process to minimize the additional storage requirements while maximizing the performance benefits.

Future-Proof Technology: As display resolutions continue to improve and internet speeds vary widely across different regions, PanoCool's adaptive approach ensures that virtual tours remain accessible and high-quality across a wide range of devices and network conditions.

By adopting this cutting-edge technology, PanoCool demonstrates its commitment to providing an optimal virtual tour experience for both creators and viewers. As the demand for high-quality, responsive virtual tours continues to grow, the tiles and multi-resolution approach is likely to become an industry standard, with PanoCool leading the way in its implementation and optimization.

Add a custom domain for your virtual tour

Using a custom domain with PanoCool enhances your brand, improves user experience, and boosts search visibility. This process involves changing DNS records.

Once DNS records have been changed, they can take a while to propagate, which means global DNS providers recognise they have been changed. A custom domain added to PanoCool will appear as unverified until this process is complete and full propagation has been achieved.

Domain is verified but can't access the website

If you have recently changed DNS records, you're not able to see your website and the Vercel Dashboard shows that the domain is configured correctly then it's likely that you have a cached DNS record on your local device or network.

You can test this by using a different device on a different internet connection (a smartphone using mobile data usually works best).

This cache is cleared automatically after a certain period of time (usually anywhere from 1-24 hours), however it can be manually cleared by restarting your local computer or your local firewall/router. You can also clear this via your operating system's commands, however this varies for each device/operating system and would recommend researching how to do this for your specific device.

Nameserver Changes

If you have changed the nameservers with your current domain registrar then it usually takes up to 48 hours for these to be reflected globally. This is not something that PanoCool has any control over and for certain registrars, this can be slower.

Once nameservers have been changed, you may wish to check the progress of the propagation. There are many third-party tools that do this, such as DNS Checker and DNS Map - these show the state of your DNS records in different regions of the world.

CNAME Record Changes

Unlike nameserver changes, propagation of CNAME records are usually very quick to propagate.

You can check the propagation progress of CNAME records for your domain with third-party tools like DNS Checker and DNS Map in the same way you can for nameservers.

A Record Changes

In the same way as CNAME records, A records usually propagate very quickly.

You can check the propagation progress of A records for your domain with third-party tools like DNS Checker and DNS Map in the same way you can for CNAME.
